Broadway Hilariously Responds to Russia’s “Gay Propaganda” Laws

Broadway, known to tackle a social issue or two, takes on Putin’s “gay propaganda” ban in this new video “Russian Broadway Shut Down – Government Deems All Theatre Homosexual Propaganda.” Created by John Walton West and composed by Jason Michael Snow, it features a Who’s Who of Broadway stars including Harvey Fierstein, Andrew Rannells, Stephen Schwartz, Joanna Gleason, and more including delicious pairings of Laura Benanti and Stephanie J. Block as two lesbian cosmonauts and Jonathan Groff and Jeremy Jordan as gay Olympians. Screenshots are below.

But don’t forget that, in the humor, there is a real message. Russian LGBT people are being hurt and the world needs to know and stop Putin’s discriminatory and fear-based tactics now.
