BOOK REVIEW: Doll Bones by Holly Black

dollbonesDoll Bones, by Holly Black (co-author of The Spiderwick Chronicles), hints at a good old fashioned ghost story, seen through the eyes of three preteens who hope to solve a decades old mystery and help a restless spirit find peace. It’s a lovely escape, reminding me of adventures I shared with my best friends, racing through the woods, climbing over downed trees across rivers and into uncharted wildernesses… all of which our parents would have forbidden, had they known what we were up to. And here, in Holly Black’s book, the three main characters share a similar experience, bonding one another in a way that will never be undone. While the book has some moments that I find hard to qualify (I’m not sure what it is I felt in certain chapters… eagerness or displeasure, or a mix of both) it is a fun romp and leaves you expecting more answers and more adventures for the threesome. Follow me on Goodreads!
