Tomorrow night, June 23, 2013, close to 400 people will come together in a celebration of life (and travel) in the 23rd installment of Broadway Bares, the annual burlesque fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. With approximately 200 dancers — plus a jumbo-sized crew — this event will hopefully out-raise all other Broadway Bares events in the organization’s history.
I’ll be there, along with friends, cheering the dancers and crew on during the 9:30pm show and if have already bought tickets, congratulations! If you haven’t, sorry, both the 9:30pm show and the midnight show are now sold out. (Although a limited number of tickets may be available for purchase between 3 pm and 7 pm on Sunday in the lobby of Roseland Ballroom. Ticket availability will be based on cancellations and returns. Tickets will be sold first-come, first-served. Cash or credit cards will be accepted.)
BUT you can still support Broadway Cares by donating through their website. Broadway Cares awards annual grants to more than 450 AIDS and family service organizations nationwide and is the major supporter of the social service programs at The Actors Fund, including the HIV/AIDS Initiative, the Phyllis Newman Women’s Health Initiative, the Al Hirschfeld Free Health Clinic, The Dancers’ Resource and the Stage Managers’ Project.
