Brian Brown sent out the following blog post, urging his supporters to donate more money to fund his (losing) battle against marriage equality.
I commented on the blog post, suggesting, “Maybe Brian Brown could give up his $500,000 a year salary. That would certainly help fund his fight against equality and his attack on an individual’s right to spend his or her life, legally, with the person he or she loves.” My comment, after a few hours of “awaiting moderation” was not permitted to stay. Apparently NOM does not like to have their flaws exposed.
According to activist Fred Karger, of Rights Equal Rights, the head of NOM makes half a million dollars a year (thanks to Towleroad for that news)!
“Maybe they don’t want us to know that NOM President Brian Brown made over $500,000 dollars in 2011. He was paid $230,000 by NOM’s political operation where he claimed to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, and another whopping $230,000 from NOM’s Educational Fund where he claimed to work another 40 hours per week. Add $47,000 in benefits and you have the ‘Half Million Dollar Man.’” – Fred Karger
Seems to me that begging your constituents to further fund your anti-equality campaign, while you ride high on a $500,000/year salary, speaks very loudly of your real priorities.
