A Hate-Monger to Deliver Benediction for @BarackObama; Say Something

Moments ago I sent the following letter to President Obama, asking him to rethink his decision to have Rev. Louie Giglio deliver the benediction on his Inauguration Day.

As you can read in this HuffPo piece , ThinkProgress and in Jeremy Hooper’s Good As You article, the Reverend is no friend to the LGBT community. The ThinkProgress article features excerpts from his sermon in which he condemns all LGBT people and features audio from the sermon itself.

I had a few things to say. If you wish to speak your mind to you can do so here.

Dear Mr. President,
I am a staunch supporter of you and your mission to advance equality for all. I am a gay male who has suffered bullying as a youth and has come out as an adult stronger and more confident than I would have ever dreamed. But your decision to have Rev. Louie Giglio deliver the benediction at your forthcoming inauguration is terribly disheartening. This man has told thousands that being gay is a sin and, in his sermon “In Search of a Standard – Christian Response to Homosexuality,” he even suggests so-called conversion therapy.

Is this the “Man of God” you really want representing you, your administration and your progress-thus-far on Inauguration Day? Please withdraw Rev. Giglio from the Inauguration benediction and chose someone who better represents your goal of equality for all.
