A friend commented on NOM’s Facebook post this morning, where they praised Exxon’s decision to remain “only major oil company to uphold the values of a majority of Americans.”
First of all, wrong again NOM! According to CNN, “54% now say that marriages between gay and lesbian couples should be recognized as valid by law, with 42% opposed.” 42% does not a majority of Americans make.
Secondly, my response to NOM’s post follows:
Ah Exxon, famous for it belief in the well-being of others. While I no longer have need of a car or gasoline I will happily pay good money to the companies that support equality for all and bigotry for none: Oreos, JCPenney, Shell, BP, Chevron, Nike, Gap, Levis… the list of those that DO support an inclusive world far outweighs the minuscule list of those that support narrow-mindedness. Good luck NOM and NOM-supporters. Take a gander at what you claim are your “facts” about the Bible and then let us have a civil, adult conversation about what it means to care for other individuals. http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2012/05/15/my-take-what-the-bible-really-says-about-homosexuality/
Special thanks to the HRC Buyer’s Guide AND to JCPenney and Oreo Cookies for their recent public support of all things equality!
