“The Clifton Monroe Chronicles” is a rousing success!

During my extended absence from writing on the blog, we successfully opened The Clifton Monroe Chronicles: Episode 1 – The Case of the Scarlet G.  I was in New Orleans for the opening weekend (and helped by running the light board while working with the press) and enjoyed watching this co-creation get standing ovations each night.  The Times-Picayune gave us, what can only be described as, a stellar review.

“a witty, charming trip to days of radio thrillers…Co-creators Ren French and Thomas Adkins have not sought to simply mimic those old Depression-era mysteries. This is a funny and entertaining homage to those shows, one that adds a clever, contemporary wit without losing the original charm of the medium. There is a playful naughtiness reminiscent of the screwball comedies of the time. Director Andrea Carlin has the good sense to let her actors rely on their voices and the well-honed script to convey the mystery story, while giving them enough tongue-in-cheek winks at the audience to keep us all in on the joke.” — Theodore P. Mahne, The Times-Picayune

This weekend is the final weekend for the show but hang tight because Episode 2: The Case of the Murderous Mister is nearly complete and will begin performances in New Orleans later this year!

So… if you are in New Orleans this weekend please be sure to check it out.  Seats are still available!  Call the Shadowbox Theatre at 504-298-8676 or order online at http://cliftonmonroe.eventbrite.com/.
