Thanks to the Americans Against the Tea Party Facebook page for sharing this video (below). Granted, some of it is edited to enhance his ignorance and insanity… but he’s still both.
The religious beliefs of Rick Santorum (or fill-in-the-blank Republican candidate) have no power and, God forbid he ever get elected as President, will never be considered law in this country. The First Amendment says it, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
Note: I’ve wondered if we, the LGBT community, established our own religion where marriage between two loving, adult, individuals was part of that doctrine, could we argue our case considering the above?
So, with respect to anyone’s chosen religion, those beliefs have no bearing in United States law. If you believe homosexuality is a sin and that the LGBT community has no right to your sacred marriage… fine. Believe it deep in your heart. Just know that your insistance will have no impact on our law and one day all people will be free to marry the person they love… whether you like it or not.
And if these candidates continue to call back to what the Founding Fathers believed… well, there is evidence to the contrary waiting for them.
Now, enjoy this compilation.
