The One Million Moms (a sub-group of another bigoted and intolerant group, the American Family Association) recently attacked JC Penney for hiring Ellen DeGeneres as their spokesperson. I just read some of the nasty, negative comments on the JC Penney Facebook page and had to respond. So, to one particularly hateful senior citizens (Stanley Minor of Florence, Alabama) I posted the following response:
Take a look at this and tell me exactly what values Ellen DeGeneres does NOT share with you. I will now shop at JC Penney every chance I can to show them that I share their and Ms. DeGeneres’ values, which she lists as “Honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you want to be treated and helping those in need. To me those are traditional values. That’s what I stand for.”
If you believe in “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” fine… I now consider YOU a second class citizen based on your bigotry and ignorance.
Hopefully you will educate yourself by watching the following from Ms. DeGeneres and learn what it means to be a caring and considerate human being.
