Christmas Crud & Exploring Youtube (4 Things You Should Watch)

I’ve had this horrible sinus/ear/throat infection for days now (herein after referred to as “the crud”) which means I’ve spent a majority of the last three days in bed or on the couch.

It just struck me that it’s odd we don’t say “in couch” as we do “in bed”.  I suppose that’s because we don’t cover up “under” anything on the couch in which to be “in” but… I digress.

Being in bed/on the couch I’ve spent a good deal of the holidays exploring Youtube for new things with which I should be enthralled.  Following is a collection of those that I think need to be shared so consider my self-imposed quarantine a charitable service to your enlightenment

Thing You Should Watch #1: A Brief History of Santa

CGP Grey has created a series of informational videos which shed light onto confusing, unknown or obscure facts which we should probably know (or at least enjoy learning about in short segments).

Thing You Should Watch #2: 12 Christmas Songs in 4 Minutes

FreddeGredde (the stage name of Swedish singer and musician Fredrik Larsson) is a Swedish singer who has gained some fame through his Youtube interpretations of classics songs and medleys.

Thing You Should Watch #3: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (Book Trailer)

I’m currently reading Ransom Riggs’ Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and came across this trailer for the book (p.s. I’m loving how books are getting trailers nowadays). So far the book is impressive and easily sucks you in. Full review coming. But check out this trailer and TRY to tell me you don’t want to find out more after watching it.

Thing You Should Watch #4: Even a Miracle Needs a Hand

One of my favorite Christmas songs isn’t a long-held traditional tune, but came about in 1974 in the Rankin/Bass animated Christmas special ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas based on Clement Moore’s 1823 poem A Visit from St. Nicholas. The special originally aired on the CBS network on December 8, 1974.
