Does this mean Cain is ok with the LGBT community now?

CNN reports that Herman Cain is now being accused of having had an affair lasting thirteen years with a woman by the name of Ginger White.

The part of the story that struck me is the statement made by Cain’s attorney, Lin Wood, to WAGA News:

“…this appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults — a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public. No individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life. The public’s right to know and the media’s right to report has boundaries and most certainly those boundaries end outside of one’s bedroom door.”

Does this mean that both Herman Cain and his attorney agree that everyone’s sexual activity is private and not for public discourse?  If so, one could infer that Cain and his attorney are pleased as punch that members of the LGBT community can serve in the military and lead active lives within their larger communities since “no individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life.”

This contradicts Cain’s prior statements about the LGBT community where HE openly laments their sexual lives and asserts that he would support a Federal ban on same-sex marriage:

“I think marriage should be protected at the federal level also. I used to believe that it could be just handled by the states but there’s a movement going on to basically take the teeth out of the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act and that could cause an unraveling, so we do need some protection at the federal level because of that and so yes I would support legislation that would say that it’s between a man and a woman.” (October 22, 2011)

This just six days after he said, “I wouldn’t seek a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.”

So which is it Herman Cain?

Can we, or can we not, criticize your sexuality and morals?  You are more than willing to infer that mine appear are of lesser value, suggesting that I am a second class citizen.
