I’m currently obsessed with fictional Twitter accounts. Creative tweeters like GodDamnBatman and DrunkHulk are always good for a laugh and the recent Fwitter (that’s Fake Twitter to those not in the know… which is most of you since I just made that up) mayoremanuel is using Twitter to promote the fake Rahm’s wry sense of humor. It’s as though creative writing has lept from the promising young novelists typewriter and onto the web in 140 characters or less.
And now Fwitters are being created to add some levity to otherwise worrisome news.
Take the cobra that recently escaped (or was lost or went on vacation) from the Bronx Zoo. At first you think, “Holy Crap! There’s a cobra roaming around New York City! Run for your lives!” And then you get online and discover that some witty wordsmith has created BronxZoosCobra on Twitter.
This new Fwitter (ok, I’ll accept that I’m probably not going to get this to catch on) Twitter account is chronicling the cobra’s escapades from his (or her?) point of view.
I mean, this stuff is hilarious! There are tons more to choose from but I can’t help but think that this is a great way to take bad news (albeit, not detrimental news) and make it fun. Imagine the possibilities if other minor dramas can be enjoyed through humor and sarcasm. What better way to trudge through problems than with a smile on your face?
Hmm, what pseudo-problem can I take on through jest? I must ponder. Back soon.
