Back in January I helped my friends Addie Brownlee, Jill and Aileen put together a concert celebrating Dolly Parton‘s birthday. The show, featuring Addie along with her special guest Martha Wainwright, was a huge success and we all had an amazing time reliving some of Dolly’s most memorable hits.
Cut to today when Jill (who is also an incredible actress and singer) asked me to brunch to catch up on our lives and dish the dirt that has collected over the last two months. She also wanted to surprise me with a little thank you gift for the little bit of work I did on the concert. (Trust me, this present was worth far more than any effort I put in. These three women already know how to put on and sell out a concert in New York City! Go see one and you’ll know what I mean!)
To my absolute delight… and by delight I mean that I nearly wet myself from the total excitement when I saw the surprise… she gave me this!

How epic is this!? If I have two favorite things they would be superheroes and The Golden Girls. Jill knows me too well.
This amazing piece is by an artist named Trevor Wayne (see his website here). His style, as it says on his page, is “like Lichtenstein and Warhol meets Mad Magazine.”
I have to agree. I particularly love that these amazing women that I grew up watching (and still do whenever I have the chance) are honored here in pen and paint while, like the television series, firmly have their tongues in their cheeks.
So, THANK YOU JILL! And to all of you out there reading this, go check out Trevor Wayne‘s website and see what else he has in store. I am going to sit and enjoy these lovely heroines hanging on my wall.
